Established in 1988, the National Honey Observatory is a unique national association for the support of the beekeeping sector, which brings together beekeeping organizations at national and regional level.
For 25 years, the National Honey Observatory has carried out crucial activities for the industry: it monitors and improves the quality of honey by analyzing over 1000 samples per year, studies market and production dynamics, promotes innovation and enhances national production. Furthermore, it is dedicated to safeguarding bees, promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

The challenge
In order to innovate a fundamental tool such as the CRT, Technical Reference Centers for beekeeping, the Observatory had set itself the ambitious challenge of creating a particularly high-performance platform to support the re-establishment of the system for processing and using data and information that constitute a unique and composite heritage of knowledge for the beekeeping sector.
The CRTs were established in 2010 by the Ministry to open a new national strategy of technical support to the sector through the promotion of innovative and unique practices and activities of information, dissemination and technical assistance to operators in the supply chain. After more than 10 years, the Ministry has decided to support the CRTs again in order to respond to the need to address the old and new critical issues that put beekeeping production, agricultural production and the ecosystem at risk.
The National Honey Observatory has therefore set itself the goal of promoting profound innovation starting from the need to rethink the tools used to best develop information, interaction, shared knowledge and thus obtain an overall intelligence capable of overcoming difficulties.
Before the arrival of Interacta, this wealth of knowledge was collected and disseminated through the Observatory's website which, although containing valuable information, was organized into many sections, often not very intuitive and complex to navigate. This, in addition to making it difficult to search for and disseminate information, also made it impossible to monitor the fruition and use of the contents.
Furthermore, the Observatory felt the need to improve the support provided to its users , enabling it to respond more effectively to beekeepers' requests.
As Giancarlo Naldi, Director of the National Honey Observatory , explains , the objective was twofold: on the one hand, to enhance the contents – but the lack of control over who interacted with them made the task even more arduous – and, on the other, to offer high-level assistance by directly connecting beekeepers and experts in the sector.
It was therefore clear that something completely new was needed that could offer modern and functional solutions to the needs of the sector. The tools that people need are not limited to transmitting only data, but must put people in the condition to grasp valuable information, details and nuances of the context.
And this is where Interacta comes in.
«Now with Interacta we have made our knowledge available to everyone in an intuitive and simple way», says Giancarlo Naldi, Director of the National Honey Observatory.
The solution
The need was clear: use technology to better spread knowledge and information about the world of bees and beekeeping. Create interactions between people who support and promote the beekeeping sector, respond quickly and easily to requests and, above all, promote a wealth of superior technical and scientific knowledge. Thanks to the collaboration between the National Honey Observatory and Interacta, the Miele in Forma project was born, an innovative platform that allows all those involved in the beekeeping sector to search for and obtain constantly updated information and data.
“Making the best use of technology to spread knowledge and information about the world of bees and beekeeping is essential to promote a superior heritage of technical and scientific knowledge.”
For MieleInForma, 3 different spaces have been structured within the platform, in order to guarantee effective sharing of information and assistance directly connected with the best experts in the field.
This space represents the heart of technical assistance, where support is offered on the world of beekeeping production and market. Here people are put directly in contact with the best experts in the subject matter related to their request, ensuring an accurate and timely response. Furthermore, the section is organized with a series of FAQs, constantly updated based on seasonal needs and new critical issues that emerge day by day. This system not only enhances the specific skills of each expert but also promotes the sharing of best practices and continuous interaction between beekeepers.
This space is a real window on the Italian beekeeping panorama. It offers different communities, each rich in content dedicated to a specific aspect: from legislation, to the associative world, up to detailed sheets on every type of honey produced in Italy.
Here, users can find valuable materials to deepen and discuss various topics. The platform promotes interaction, allowing everyone to share and discuss data and analysis. This is exactly what Interacta has always promoted: the creation of collective and shared knowledge to lead to continuous evolution.
The collaboration between Interacta and the National Honey Observatory has led to an evolution in the beekeeping sector, centralizing and enhancing information and skills . Thanks to Miele in Forma, the knowledge base, previously fragmented in multiple sections of the site, is now easily accessible, with experts ready to respond and share best practices with users.
“Thanks to Interacta we have made knowledge available to everyone in an intuitive and simple way.”
